Fairy Sophie the owner

Before starting my business in 2018,  I worked on and off for many years as a fairy entertainer for market stalls across Perth. One day I noticed that the market I was working at didn’t have a face painter, and I thought to myself- maybe I should learn to face paint? Armed with that day’s pay check, I invested in my first set of paint, brushes and glitters, and voilà: Fantasy Face Painter was born, and I’ve not looked back since.

I often get asked about my job, and I always mention how much I love it because “who wouldn’t want to spend their weekends dressing up as a fairy?”. In reality, that’s really only a small fraction of why I love my work. My favourite part is getting to meet all of you! I’ve met so many wonderful people through my business, and I absolutely cherish my interactions with the children- I enjoy hearing their stories, whether about their lives, fairyland or whatever it is they’re currently excited about.

Face painting lead me back into another industry that I’m passionate about: make up artistry. After completing my Diploma of Special Effects, I knew I had to bring those skills to face painting- which is how I discovered my love of body painting. Over the past few years, I’ve entered competitions – placing 3rd at the Perth Hair and Beauty Expo two years in a row, and placing first in the final year. I have collaborated on numerous body painting photoshoots, one of which has been published in ‘Horizont’ magazine, featuring on the cover.
